When in doubt
Layers, layers, layers. While it is apparently springtime…layers are still very much a necessity. As soon as the sun disappears behind a cloud it’s freezing cold and feels like November all over again. Talking of November I think it’s when I first saw checked blazers make an appearance. I fell in love with them, but it wasn’t really my sort of style. I didn’t know how to style them other than as part of a suit. How times have changed. Back in February I bit the bullet and bought a checked blazer from Quiz and holy crap I’m in love with it. If I don’t know what I wear I’ll throw on basic jeans and a top and this bad boy, instantly it’ll look like I’ve put an effort in with my outfit. Lifesaver.
If we recall back last year my Spring Essential: Boyfriend Coat and gosh golly did I wear that coat a lot, and I still do…and have since purchased more colours. It seems that when spring comes round my essential is to grab a lightweight jacket and wave goodbye to the faux fur of the winter time. Although you can be your sweet ass that I’ll be pulling it back out in a few months time when the cold weather starts all over again.
This post also marks a year since I started dipping my toes into fashion blogging since my first serious fashion posts was about my boyfriend coat. How my style has changed since then and while I do still love a good pair of skinny jeans, I’ve also branched into trousers, skirts and dresses more. Let’s not forget that I love a good pair of heels now…although still not confident enough to wear them on a daily basis.

SHOP THE ESSENTIAL

[pipdig_padded_text] There’s no doubt that you can dress a blazer up or down. I’ve worn it for casual shopping days, date nights and even to swanky events. It’s an item that every person should have in their wardrobe, and you can bet I’m currently on the hunt for other blazers that offer the same possibility. My next purchase will either be a plain blazer or a white striped one…I’ve just fallen in love in blazers and how multiple use they are. They’re no longer just an item of school uniform or kept within the office.
My personal favourite way is with blue jeans, a bold top and flats or a little black dress and bright shoes. There’s just something about this blazer that makes me want to add a pop of colour to my outfit, and as someone that typically were monochrome it’s a crazy feeling…but I’m also loving the mustard vibes that spring brings along with it. Mustard isn’t just for autumn.
